Supporting the people of tomorrow

Our aim is to empower and inspire a generation that has been left neglected and often forgotten, to transform them into leaders and educators regardless of race, language or background, in hopes that they will give back to the community once they have taken what they need and transformed their own lives.

The need is great - but so is the power to change it

Around the world, millions are still denied basic rights such as education, safety and clean water. In The Gambia, nearly half of families live below the poverty line. Every donation helps us bring hope and opportunity where it's needed most.

Together, we can change these numbers - one child, one family, one community at a time.

Frequently asked questions

Lorem ipsum dolor orem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur.

  • Is SPOT Project a charity?

SPOT Project is a registered charity (1184662) in England and Wales.

  • When was SPOT Project founded?

SPOT, Supporting People Of Tomorrow; is a non-profit organisation, founded in 2015 and a registered charity since 2019, with the goal of helping young people in deprived areas.

  • Who does SPOT Project help?

Ever since our launch, our main projects have been in Africa where we have managed to sponsor orphans, refurbish schools, provide food packs and build water wells. It is our aim to transform the lives of the most vulnerable in underprivileged regions.

  • How can I support SPOT Project?

We have only been able to expand and provide such critical aid in the UK and abroad due to our supporters. You can support SPOT Project by donating, volunteering your time and sharing our work.

  • How much would it be to sponsor an orphan?

To sponsor an orphan at SPOT Project will cost £600 a year (£50 a month). That’s approximately £1.64 a day. Although this does not seem very much, each penny of your sponsorship goes a long way to helping with the cost of daily living.

    Through your sponsorship they receive:

    • Regular medical care
    • Learning resources. e.g. books, stationary etc.
    • Season-appropriate clothing
    • Regular healthy and nutritious meals
    • Sanitary products

  • How long is the sponsorship expected to last?

SPOT Project’s aim is to, ultimately, provide long-term support for our children, therefore, the sponsorship of an individual will last until they are empowered enough to become independent and self-sufficient. You have the option to sponsor a child on a yearly rolling basis or sponsor an orphan over an extended period of time.

Additionally, sponsoring an orphan with SPOT and how long this will last depends on each child’s circumstances, how old they are and what needs will have to be met to ensure that they flourish.

Families of the orphans may feel as though they have the ability to provide for them and their needs, at which point the family’s ability to do this will be looked into and if it is decided that they can provide adequately for the orphan then sponsorship may no longer be appropriate. Situations like these will have to be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

  • What do I get from sponsoring an orphan with SPOT?

Apart from that great feeling you get when you know you are helping to transform and empower a child. Your donations will cover more than one orphan and we provide an annual report so you can see the impact of your donations. There will also be an opportunity for long term donors to visit the beneficiaries in the Gambia, West Africa.

  • How is sponsoring children from SPOT Academy different from sponsoring other children elsewhere?

Sponsoring a child with us means that you are ensuring the wellbeing of these children on a long-term basis, every day, all year round.

We are dedicated to the care of these orphans and, as such, each child is assigned a key worker as well as a mentor. This mentor observes and documents their learning experience so that the Academy can provide a service to these children which is specific to each child. In other words, we are responsive to each individual child and appreciate and celebrate their individuality.

With that being said, each member of staff puts in huge effort to ensure each child feels special, wanted and loved. It’s never just about money, but also how this sponsorship makes the child feel and so this is a process that will provide them with a sense of pride and encouragement to know that someone, somewhere, despite what they have been through, cares enough to support them.

  • What is Zakat?

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is compulsory for Muslims (who reach the minimum threshold for payment) to donate a percentage of their wealth in order to help those less fortunate than yourself.

  • Who must pay Zakat?

Every person who is sane, an adult (reached puberty), Muslim who is working or earning more than is necessary to fulfil their everyday essential needs are expected to pay a percentage of their wealth as Zakat.

  • How much is Zakat?

Zakat is 2.5% of your total wealth.

Therefore if you have £20,000 of wealth liable to Zakat, you would pay £500.
